Rhythm

Rhythm is all about long sounds, short sounds, and silence.  Rhythm is the backbone of most music and helps the group stay together.  Below, you will find links that will allow you to create rhythms, listen to rhythms, learn about note values, and even visit a performing group called Stomp, who make rhythms on all kinds of things!

Play this game to test your rhythm memory.  You will start by creating your very own 8-beat pattern and then pick out the correct one when it plays your rhythm back.

Learn about rhythms and note values through basketball, soccer, and quiz show games.  There are many different areas of rhythm to be explored within this site. 

Watch this fun 7-minute video clip of the old classic show "Reading Rainbow".  The performing group Stomp is featured and they will show you that rhythms can be made on just about anything.

Knowing your note and rest values is a very important part of being able to read rhythms.  The Rhythm Bandit will not only put your musical skills to use but your math skills as well.  Try to get 100% and then increase the difficulty level.

Put your rhythm reading skills to the test with these flash cards.  These cards contain basic rhythms and include quarter notes, quarter rests, and two eighth notes.  Can you chant them all correctly?
